Honor Thy Mother and Thy Father!

Whenever people hear this commandment, the first thing they think of is they are supposed to obey their parents. This is, of course, required of children, but there is a greater message here.
That message regards how their parents should be viewed (and treated as such) with great value, such as the price of a precious stone or gem. It also has a deeper meaning of holding and treating parents with high esteem. This is a commandment, not a suggestion, one that (in failure) can actually determine whether one lives a long life or not. To do otherwise, it may also cause an earlier death:
1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they wash not their hands when they eat bread.3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition, (Matthew 15:1-6)
The word honor is the Greek verb timao, which means "to honor" (akin to is used in scripture of (a) valuing Christ at a price, Matthew 27:9; (b) "honoring" a person: (c) the "honor" done by Christ to the Father, John 8:49; (d) "honor" bestowed by the Father upon him who serves Christ, John 12:26; (e) the duty of all to "honor" the Son equally with the Father, John 5:23; (f) the duty of children to "honor" their parents, Matthew 15:4; 19:19; Mark 7:10; 10:19; Luke 18:20; Ephesians 6:2; (g) the duty of Christians to "honor" the king, and all men, 1 Peter 2:17; (h) the respect and material assistance to be given to widows "that are widows indeed," 1 Timothy 5:3; (i) the "honor" done to Paul and his companions by the inhabitants of Melita, Acts 28:10; (j) that which is denied to God whereby they render Him mere lip profession of "honor" to God, Matthew. 15:8; Mark 7:6.
There are two distinct meanings such as 1) that of great price and value that we view and appraise a precious stone or a gem, and 2) held in high honor, esteemed, especially dear.
This is different than obedience ,where we see the Greek noun, hupakoe, as is used for "obedient (children);" 1 Peter 1:22,  "obedience (to the truth)", "obeying (the truth);" of "obedience" to Christ (objective), 2 Corinthians 10:5; of Christ's "obedience," Romans 5:19 (referring to His death; cp. Philippians 2:8); Hebrews 5:8, which refers to His delighted experience in constant "obedience" to the Father's will (not to be understood in the sense that He learned to obey).
The word obedience is possibly the most disliked word in humanity’s lexicon, especially for children. What many children miss when reading this commandment is the part where it states that failing to do so, can cause sons and daughters problems throughout their lives and even shorten it:

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth, (Ephesians 6:1-3, KJV).
We see in the entire 2nd chapter of Titus, a more expanded explanation for the entire family, with special instructions for the woman, and the wives and mothers in a Christian household that defines their conduct. Now, before you get all defensive and play the macho man card:
1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. 3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. 6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. 7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, 8 Sound speech that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. 9 Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; 10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. 11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.(Titus 2:1-15 KJV).

It is interesting to note that this group of scripture is the only place in the entire Bible where it speaks about wives are supposed to love their husbands, unlike we see in Ephesians 5, where we are told how much a husband is supposed to love his wife, to the degree he needs to be prepared and willing to even die for her. However, the wife is told that she must always respect her husband:

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This is a profound mystery, but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband
, (Ephesians 5:25-33, KJV).

In this day and age, obviously these instructions (God’s formula) for successful marriages are viewed as “old school” which conjures up much conjecture by wives, such as “Yea! But you don’t know him (the husband) like I do, and I’ll be damned if I will submit to or obey that jerk.”

True! But then no husband is perfect nor is either all wives, which is usually the case because neither is fulfilling the roles God has given both wife and husband. But, I will wager that if a husband is obeying God in this regard, showing his complete and total devotion to his wife, to the degree he is willing to die for her, that any sensible woman has no other response than to at least respect her husband. Too many in the secular world would find this conduct absolutely deplorable in this “liberated” world we live in today, which (unfortunately) is also common among Christian marriages.

Strange as it may seem, nowadays especially, failure to follow these instructions (especially) by those who are deeply involved in ministerial activities, is having a devastating effect. For those husbands and fathers who have been chosen by God to minister to those in his community, they are already entering into this endeavor with one giant strike against them, as we read in scripture, that such a man receives any honor or respect in his hometown, much less is his own household:

53 When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there. 54 Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked. 55 “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? 56 Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” 57 And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home.” 58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith, (Matthew 13:53-58).
You will notice carefully in the last verse in this important group of scripture, because of their lack of faith (especially in God’s instructions for an effective marriage, and ministry), miracles will be almost non-existence.
I would venture to say that in addition to the negative financial practices rampant among most congregations, this failure to bestow respect and honor to the spiritual leader of the family and his ministry is the main reason why the church, and many Christian marriages, as well, are dying on the vine.

Therefore, we leave you with this small caveat. Turn your lives around and follow God’s formula to insure a strong marriage, but even more important, an effective ministry.
Remember, once Jesus arrives, He will no longer remember your sins. But when it comes time to receive your reward, they will be determined by those works done through the Holy Spirit; and He is taking down names.

Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done, (Revelation 22:12).

US Media Bias Contributes to Middle East Atrocities!

It is interesting to see the negative impact the behemoth western media is having on world chaos. The world is in flames yet US media choose to place the blame on certain groups, without giving us the complete facts as to who is responsible for the incendiary actions orchestrated by an elite group, who obviously control what they see is fit to print. Take the Middles East, for an example!

The US press, which publishes its data directly from Middle East media news sources, such as the
Jewish News One, and the largest and most effective lobby in the US Congress, AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee), only give us glimpses of the total story. Sadly for most Americans, their twist in their news items makes it look like the state of Israel has become the most victimized country in the world. We read daily how those pesky “terrorists” in Gaza have ALL ISRAEL cowering in caves and dungeons to protect themselves from the alleged onslaught of the “fierce” and “terrorists” Palestinian military force. They paint a picture of Israel’s looming destruction, with a gloom and doom broad swath; that, unless rescued by Americans, Israel will become a byword in the annals of history. For example:

According to reports from Jewish News One, concerning how many mortar rocket attacks they experienced this past June, we read this report:

 “163…that's the number of
rockets and mortars that have so far hit Southern Israel in June…It's often described in the media as "cross border attacks" by militants or Islamic terrorist groups in Gaza…with Israeli counterstrikes, the jargon becomes a "new cycle of violence." But lost in the headlines is the fact Israeli communities near the Gaza border hear the alarm sirens for incoming rockets every single month…sometimes every week…So consider this number: 45…that's the average number of rockets and mortars that terrorists have fired EACH month this year – and that does NOT include the spike in June…that's more than a rocket a day, though they often hit in clusters every few days…The culprits vary --- from the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hamas which runs Gaza to break off groups, like Islamic Jihad.

The range of Gaza has increased over the years – they can now reach the cities of
Ashdod, Ashkelon and Be'er Sheva – putting more than a million Israeli citizens at risk…Since the 2008 Gaza War, rocket fire has dropped considerably, but it still remains a significant security challenge for Israel…2 Israelis died in rocket attacks last year, including a teenage boy…Retired Major General Giora Eiland, a former National Security Advisor, believes Israel should treat Hamas like a government.

Israel's policy now is to strike
weapons smuggling tunnels, launching pads, training grounds and specific terrorists – one cost of this strategy: the accidental death of Palestinian civilians. A new factor has also entered the equation in Gaza: political revolution in Egypt has led an Islamist leader, a longtime member of the Muslim Brotherhood, to be elected as Egypt's new President…some fear Mohammed Morsi will align himself with Hamas and support arms smuggling and attacks on Israel…but Major General Eiland disagrees.

The flow of weapons into Gaza may also increase if Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad's regime collapses…A top IDF general warned recently about chemical weapons getting into the wrong hands. What about the likelihood of another Israeli ground invasion in Gaza? Most experts think that is unlikely.”

This data is reported by US media to the American public, to obviously gain sympathy (and billions of taxpayer dollars) for Israel, but, unfortunately (and very conveniently), they failed to include the total story reported by Jewish News One:

“This year Israel unveiled a new weapon in the fight against terrorists in Gaza:
The Iron Dome anti-missile defense system. The mobile battery units use radar to detect incoming rockets and then shot up their own missiles to destroy the rocket in midair. Developed in Israel, it's the world's first and only short-range rocket interception system. And its extraordinary success rate has surpassed everyone's expectations.

That means Iron Dome has destroyed about 8 out every 10 rockets it goes after. This month it defied expectations and prevented rockets from hitting the border town of Sderot despite their very short time in the air. 4 Iron Domes are deployed today and more are on the production line…batteries will likely be deployed near Sderot in the future. At an estimated 200 million dollars a pop, they're not cheap. The Obama Administration approved extra military aid to help cover the costs. Iron Dome can provide an additional layer of protection, but most agree a more comprehensive solution is needed. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces tough challenges in Gaza -- long-standing challenges made more difficult by political unrest in Egypt and Syria… (Jordana Miller, JN1, Jerusalem)."

Yet, the propaganda received by America is more “victim hood” by Israel, than the atrocities being experienced by defenseless Palestinians. I say ‘defenseless’ when you compare Israeli military jets with rebel Palestinian rockets (and rocks) that have as much killing power between a 22 pistol and an elephant gun. I concur that rebel Palestinians are wrong for launching these rockets, but one can understand why they do it. It is obviously not a military offensive but an act of frustration on their part, and most people all over the world recognize this to be a fact.

Nevertheless, according to foreign press reports from various news agencies (such as the French AFP) we see that while a few combative Palestinians are fighting back against a recognized oppressive Israeli regime, with puny rocket mortars, western news sources fail to mention how the Israeli Air Force responded to these impotent attacks nor how many Palestinian rebels were killed in those bombing raids. American citizens never get to see the myriad of reports about the actual happenings in Gaza (click any of the links below) even though it has access to world-wide news bureaus. They are content (or have been ordered) to get and report solely the news from Israeli sources such as Jewish News One and AIPAC.

In the meantime, while American Christian Zionists believe in their hearts that they are doing the right thing by supporting the rogue Israeli administration (read about the birth of the ungodly History of Christian Zionism), God’s other children are living in war-torn conditions, suffering from bombing strafe injuries, without access to medical attention nor the meager and basic necessities of life such as food and water.

Yet, so-called Christian leaders such as John Hagee dare preach to America that they are on God’s side, by supporting the state of Israel, raising millions of dollars from naïve or ignorant members of churches throughout America to support and bolster the 2nd most powerful military group in the world. Based on the misinterpretation of (Genesis 12:1-3, which is intended for God’s people of faith), Christian Zionist actually believe that today’s state of Israel is the true Israel of God, which is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the Church of God.

A few Disciples of God, such as Stephen Sizer, who has done his homework, provides Bible proof that Zionism, Jewish and or Christian has no Bible foundation, whatsoever; yet Christian Zionists drink the Kool Aid and like lemmings are being led down the path of destruction.

There are but a few of us who have committed our lives (unto death) to get this truth out to as many people as we can, to hopefully turn this horror story around, and hopefully bring about a peace in the Middle East. If not soon, this world will go up in flames, and many Christians (Zionists included) will suffer great tribulation, and (more importantly) there will be no Pre-Tribulation Rapture escape to Heaven to rescue them from the imminent world-wide conflagration as never experienced in history.

The Holy Spirit Versus Our Own Intellect

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen, (2 Corinthians 13:14).Trinitarian. The Christian doctrine of the Trinity boldly declares the equality of the Three Persons and the right of the Holy Spirit to be worshipped and glorified. Anything less than this is something less than Trinitarianism. The Pursuit of Man, 60-61 by A.W. Tozer
These words of wisdom from Tozer are probably one of most crucial aspect that is ignored in order to walk a true path with Christ. The entire subject matter concerning the need to be empowered and guided by the Holy Spirit is too often ignored. There are well-intended Christians who preach and teach varying doctrines (as they interpret the word of God) who fail to trust in Holy Spirit confirmation. Even the most educated and studious teacher-preacher-evangelist-minister who claims to follow Christ seldom sits back before or after studying the word of God and pray seeking Holy Spirit confirmation, and then (unwittingly or purposefully) writing or commenting on what they have read or studied. In their haste and enthusiasm to share what they believe is new found truth, they oftentimes rush to publish their views without first consulting the Holy Spirit. Unlike many dedicated scholars who go as far as sharing their information with other scholars to get their opinion, and then take those findings to the Holy Spirit for confirmation, independent prophets rush to publish rather than being open to advice from other like-minded disciples.
Sadly, there are many ersatz prophets who actually claim they received esoteric visions and data from God that supports a unique doctrinal position that (if examined carefully) would not pass canonical muster. Therefore, it behooves ALL folks to be willing to share and compare (not debate and argue) information they may have gleaned from the Bible to test its veracity. Most of the time, this may include deep study into the exact meaning of certain words in scripture, and also comparing those words with how they may be used in other verses. For example, the Greek word topos is rendered as room, place, opportunity, condition, and license to describe a position or condition which a person occupies. For example, in describing what a particular person means to me, I can say, I have a special place in my heart for Mary or Joseph. This doesn’t mean that Mary or Joseph can actually and physically occupy their total persona inside my heart, but from a conditional perspective, they been afforded an opportunity, or have the license to be part of my life.

This same word topos is used in John 14:2 where Jesus said, In my Father's house are many mansions: if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place (topos) for you. Many people interpret the word place here to mean a room, an abode, a mansion, a chamber, a house or a castle, when in reality Jesus is stating He is currently preparing a positional status for us in His kingdom, according to our accomplishments in His service.
We see the same confusion as we read the story about the baby Jesus in Bethlehem in Luke 2:7, as Mary gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Understanding the deeper meaning of the word room as is used here, the Greek word for room is topos, which conveys more so that it wasn’t a case of there being no rooms available, but rather that Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus were actually not afforded the opportunity to stay at the Inn. This is understandable for several reasons, one that King Herod was seeking the baby to kill him, as well as the fact that Joseph and Mary were not married and the Inn keeper could very well say the couple had moral issues he didn’t want to deal with in his reputable establishment. Maybe they didn’t have the funds. Regardless, the word topos has more to do with opportunity (or lack there of) to stay at the Inn as opposed to what most surmise there were no rooms (Greek tameion, a room or a chamber) available.

Nevertheless, one can see by these two example how easily a student of the Bible could render an altered perspective on just one verse by not having a true understanding of what the original word truly means and how it has been used in other verses. Many a doctrine has sprouted throughout history on such unsubstantiated foundations, and it continues to this day.
Therefore, whereas a sound hermeneutical and exegetical formula or system has been considered when Bible students (and scholars) attempt to arrive at a more succinct meaning to certain scripture, even after doing all of this work, we must continue to go to the Holy Spirit and pray for His confirmation.

In this day in age, with the conveniences of the Internet, Ipods, cell phones and other electronic gadgetry to assist us and get our views in the public arena much faster than say fifty or even a hundred years ago, preachers-teachers-ministers-evangelists and all who proffer doctrine to the general public, should take time before publishing their views for public consumption until they have received that moment of peace, tranquility and assurance that only the Holy Spirit can provide as confirmation the knowledge we pass on to others is correct. We may be surprised to know and realize that it’s really time to go back to the drawing board and reconsider what we think may be Gospel truth. There are way too many variations and self interpretations of God’s word being presented to the church nowadays that is mere conjecture and assumptions being proffered by many preachers and teachers who have not done enough deep study, nor prayed for Holy Spirit confirmation; but yet preach and teach various doctrines as if they are Gospel truth. The sad part of this is their audience accepts it as Gospel truth and unwittingly pass that erroneous information to others.
Is what we present to others truly the work of the Holy Spirit or is it merely our intellect, which can be mere soothing rhetoric intended to earn points from our respective audience? Only the Holy Spirit can confirm God’s truth.

I’m in His Peace!
